Churches in Greater Manchester that cater for more than one language
I would like to share about churches in the Greater Manchester area that cater for more than one language.
1. Yedam Church is a Korean-medium church that meets on Sunday afternoons in the Nazarene College in South Manchester. The congregation is almost entirely made up of Korean British and ex-pats, and the service is all in Korean. For the small contingent of non-Korean speakers, the sermon is read out in real time via headsets at the same time as it is delivered in Korean. In my experience, this works extremely well.
2. Bethel Evangelical Church in Bolton is a thriving multi-cultural church in the heart of Bolton. The church has been revived since the arrival of a new pastor in 2020, and has grown from 15 or so to over 100 regular attendees. Many cultures and languages are represented, however there are sizeable contingents of Farsi (Iranian) and Karen (an Indian language) speakers. For these two groups, the sermon is Google translated in advance and distributed as a print out.
